Selen is an electrical engineer with a specialization in bioelectronics. Her passion is to advance the technologies that will improve life quality of patients suffering from neurological disease.
Selen Keles joined the Wyss Center as Neuroengineer (Brain-Computer Interfaces) in July 2023, then continued as Project Leader/Neuro Engineer for BCI in February 2024. Her role is to assess the function of the developed technologies in Wyss Center, ensuring the products meet the specifications and high standards. She is working with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, neuroscientists, and brain-computer interface experts, providing them crucial feedback about the system performance to improve functionality on various projects .
Prior to joining Wyss Center, Selen spent two years working for Aleva Neurotherapeutics SA (Lausanne, Switzerland). She has been focusing on the development and maintenance of a Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) system (class III medical device) where she gained experience in research, design, development, verification and validation, and project management.
Selen received her MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2021. During her studies she specialized in bioelectronics and focused on advancing the technologies in medical devices. For her Master’s thesis, she optimized and improved the manufacturing process of soft intrafascicular neural implants to reduce the foreign body reaction in the brain tissue and characterized their performance.
