Janir Ramos da Cruz joined the Wyss Center in January 2021 as a Data Scientist. He is responsible for the design, development and optimization of novel algorithms for real-time inference of intentions as well as the deployment of state-of-the-art machine learning tools to extract information from large and multimodal datasets to inform the design of preclinical and clinical experiments. He works with hardware engineers to implement and deploy these algorithms in next generation implantable and wearable devices, and on cloud servers.
Janir obtained a dual-PhD degree in Neuroscience and in Biomedical Engineering from Ecole Politechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), respectively. He holds a MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering and BSc (Honors) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Macau.
