Hansjörg Wyss
Hansjörg Wyss is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and conservationist whose contributions to medical innovation, science, and education continue to shape the future of human health and well-being. After building Synthes USA into one of the world’s leading medical device companies, Mr. Wyss turned his focus to philanthropy, supporting bold, interdisciplinary initiatives that drive scientific progress and improve lives.
In 2014, Mr. Wyss established the Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering in Geneva to accelerate the development of innovative neurotechnologies, which help us understand how the brain works and how to develop life-changing treatments for people. With his philanthropic support, the Center bridges the gap between research and clinical application, bringing together scientists, clinicians, and engineers to advance treatments for neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Through the Wyss Foundation, Mr. Wyss has also supported a wide range of initiatives across biomedical research, environmental conservation, education, and the arts. His investments in scholarships and fellowships enable the next generation of researchers and innovators to pursue transformative work across continents.
From the United States, where he has resided for more than four decades, Mr. Wyss continues to support organizations that share his vision for a healthier, more sustainable future. His enduring commitment to science, creativity, and human potential is embodied in the mission and ongoing work of the Wyss Center.
