A Wyss Center spin-off unlocking big data in microscopy

Next-gen imaging: Making big data manageable and meaningful

Modern microscopes produce several gigabytes of data per second or roughly 400 TB per day leading to data handling and transfer becoming very challenging. Traditional pixel-based images carry the same amount of information per pixel, irrespective of areas of sparsity, low resolution or emptiness, meaning that image information content is neglected. Every data is captured and stored homogenously, resulting in massive file sizes.

DataFlight Solutions Ltd. aims to unlock the power of big microscopy data and AI for novel scientific discoveries and treatments. The work of the start-up that emerged via the Wyss Center project “Human Brain Mapping APR”, adapts image resolution based on information content, enabling efficient analysis of large data in a form that allows easy processing and transfer.

DataFlight Solutions is a next-generation efficient data platform for scalable storage, visualization, and analysis for large and high throughput 3D fluorescence imaging. The technology used by the platform is 10 times faster, cheaper, and better for the planet.
