Professor Enikö Kövari completed her medical studies and specialization in general pathology in Budapest, Hungary and later specialized in neuropathology in Switzerland.
She obtained her doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva in 2001, received the title of Privat docent (2006), then lecturer in 2009.
She was promoted to associate professor in July 2016.
She is the representative of the Swiss Neuropathological Society in the Euro-CNS (European Confederation of Neuropathological Societies) and member of the History Committee of the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS). Her research interests are focused on two main fields: clinicopathological correlations in vascular dementia and parkinsonian disorders. She is author or co-author of more than 90 peer-reviewed publications.
Currently she is the head of the Unit of Biomarkers in the Department of Psychiatry, University Hospitals of Geneva.
