Tiago Bertolote joined the Wyss Center as Mechanical Engineer in April 2018. He works on the different mechanical aspects of devices and components developed through Wyss Center projects.
Before joining the Wyss Center, Tiago worked for more than four years as a mechanical design engineer for E.M.S. Electro Medical Systems SA (Nyon, Switzerland). During his time there he contributed to the development of a commercially successful new range of desktop dental prophylaxis devices, improvement of established products as well as research and development of novel subsystems and parts.
From 2005 to 2013 he worked for Allergan as a product development engineer, first at Endoart/Allergan Medical SA (Lausanne, Switzerland) in the development of an electromechanical telemetric gastric band for the treatment of obesity, and later at Allergan Medical headquarters in Santa Barbara (USA), where he developed and improved devices, surgical tools and procedures for the bariatric, plastic surgery and drug delivery fields.
Tiago received his Master’s degree in Microengineering from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2005.
